The advantage of a gooseneck hitch over a
standard fifth wheel hitch is that the
ball can either be removed or lowered under
the truck bed when not towing, allowing
usage of the entire truck bed. Another
advantage is the cost. A typical gooseneck
along with the mounting rails can be
purchased for about 50% the price of a fifth
wheel setup. For these reasons more and more
fifth wheel trailer owners are opting for
the gooseneck hitch setup. The disadvantage
is that the trailer hookup is a little more
difficult do to the fact the trailer
receiver must be lowered directly down upon
the ball versus just backing into the
trailer receiver. |
